This is Fingon and Idril from J.R.R. Tolkien "Silmarillion" Fingon was Idril's uncle, Idril loved him from her early childhood. They became very close during the Exile and going through the Grinding Ice. Idril was very fond of Fingon and he loved her too!
This is the episode when Fingon returns back from saving his close and beloved friend Maedhros. Fingon knew that he must go to the dark stronghold of Morgoth, and he came alone. He was only one whose heart could see in the blackness of Enemys spite. And his will was strong and he had a great light burning in his heart and eyes. He had to overcome many dangers on his way mountains which were filed with hatred and black will of Morgoth, wargs, which were watching over the approach to Angband. He knew that he goes to his doom but nothing stopped Fingon from his deed. And he searched for Maedhros, he was eager to die for his friend would be saved. And this aspiration gave him such a spirit power and such inner light that Morgoth trembled in his stronghold. Never before he met such an overcoming will, such a heart full of love to someone and full of daring and braveness. It was the moment of real triumph of noble, great and loving soul over the darkness. Morgoth could do nothing with one elf that came to his lands, because Fingon was stronger than Valar this time. Morgoth was unable to struggle therewith he could not understand with his black mind.
Fingon saved Maedhros and returned him to the camp. I think that Idrill was the first to rush to him and jump on his arms. He embraces her impetuously but I wanted to show one second, one moment in his eyes when he is still there near Angband and his heart remembers still that Maedhros was in such danger and there was a moment when he begged for killing him. What a trial for a friend to have to do such things! And he could loose Maedhros. In a second later I know that he will continue hugging Idril and smile to her and kiss her very happy to see again, but now...
*************************************** It is my collaboration with I draw the picture with graphite and mechanical pencil. She did a wonderful job with coloring the picture like it is a watercolor drawing. I love the effect so much! Hope you like it too!
Thank you! I think that they have very much in common. Also Fingon is a deeply feeling person, he could give love and see it in the other heart. And he loves children, I hate Tolkien's idea that he sends his own son away. He couldn't do so. And Idril is much closer to Fingolfin's line, not Turgon's. So she loves all in Fingon and she took much from her uncle and grandfather that's why she became so brave and strong-willed.
GOD bless
